In January 2024, Trezor faced a security incident involving a potential phishing attack due to a breach at a third-party service provider. The breach exposed contact details, including names and email addresses, of users who interacted with Trezor's support team since December 2021. Although no recovery seed phrases were disclosed, the compromised information increased the risk of phishing attacks aimed at obtaining these sensitive details.
Trezor responded promptly by revoking the malicious actor’s access and conducting a thorough audit of the affected systems. They notified all potentially affected users, urging them to exercise caution and highlighting the importance of never sharing their recovery seed. The company emphasized that Trezor devices remain secure and that no funds were compromised as a result of the incident.
Trezor continues to work closely with the third-party provider to resolve the issue and prevent future incidents. Users are advised to remain vigilant against phishing attempts and report any suspicious activity to Trezor's official support channels .
